In WordPress the default trackback link behavior causes persistent user confusion. Knowledgeable users right-click on the link and copy the link location. But the vast majority of users click the link — expecting to copy the link from the browser's location bar — only to be redirected back to the very page they were on. The standard implementation does not provide the expected result.<\/p>\n\n

wp-\u200b\u200bTrackbackPopup resolves this issue. It uses unob\u00adtru\u00adsive JavaScript to create a popup win\u00addow when a user clicks the track\u00adback link. The popup window pro\u00advides a text ver\u00adsion of the track\u00adback URL for easy copy\u00ading and pasting.\nThe popup window may be styled to match your existing theme.<\/p>\n\n

  1. Log in to WordPress as an administrator<\/li>\n
  2. Go to Plugins > Add New<\/code> and search for wp-TrackbackPopup<\/code><\/li>\n
  3. Click install<\/code> next to the wp-TrackbackPopup plugin description<\/li>\n
  4. Click the Install Now<\/code> button in the pop-up window<\/li>\n
  5. After the plugin is installed, click the Activate Plugin<\/code> link<\/li>\n
  6. Go to Settings > wp-TrackbackPopup<\/code> to set your preferences<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n

    Alternately, you may manually upload the plugin by following the following instructions:<\/p>\n\n

    1. Go to http:\/\/wordpress.org\/extend\/plugins\/wp-trackbackpopup\/<\/a>, and click the Download<\/code> button<\/li>\n
    2. Unzip the wp-trackbackpopup.x.x.zip<\/code> file<\/li>\n
    3. Using your favored FTP client, upload the wp-trackbackpopup<\/code> folder to the \/wp-content\/plugins\/<\/code> directory<\/li>\n
    4. Log in to WordPress as an administrator<\/li>\n
    5. Go to Plugins > Installed<\/code>, locate the plugin and click the related Activate<\/code> link.<\/li>\n
